good advice TitanTn, if possible in the future, arrange some work parties, volunteer some friends, pay in beer and pizza, and make big progress in short time intervals. ... and Ohio State, an...
jasun, nice GSXR... i second the oil pan pull and rear main inspection. Looks like your heads have been removed, possible valve job and hot tank cleaned judging by the lack of paint/rust.

and you will need to get about 9-10' above the boat when on a trailer to get enough clearance.
The cooler is part of the cap on a saltare (if it had a cooler option). Disconnect the throttle at the engine. Disconnect the steering cable at the rudder. Disconnect the transmission cable at the...
Removing the cap would be worth the effort... once you start removing the floor, you don't want to stop 1/2 way. I started out the same way, didn't think i needed to remove the cap, quickly came to...
looks like it was well cared for .... nice find!
mike is right, check the linkage... your best bet. removing the transmission is not that tough once you establish a way to rig the back end of the engine. (rear motor mounts are on the transmission).
the lean is due to an unbalance... they don't build them unbalanced, something has changed, it would take more 50lbs to start any appreciable lean. Most likely you have absorbed water on one side...

even the closed cell foam will absorb water over time ... the lesser evil when your boat is swamped (vs. sinking to the bottom).
Did you replace the floor and stringers in this when you did your rebuild? ... and if so, did you add the foam back in? without the foam, the boat flipping certainly would be a blessing in disguise....
normal, expect at least 1 drip per minute on this type of packing.
the big question is do you have any soft spots in the floor... that is the big $$$ question.
Jasun, those back barrels are the secondary's, actuated by a vacuum actuator (right side of the carb) with a controlled moderation by the primary throttle (left side). While they don't move as...
Cory, did you replace them with a replica housing w/LED's? I need to do the same.. the incandescent's are tired after 26 yrs.
John
original impeller? if so it is 7yrs old, typically beyond its life expectancy. I would be willing to bet your temperature gauge is not all that accurate, my factory gauge was way off, replaced it...
Rusty and 88pirata... sent you a PM. remaining parts: Tach, 1 side vent window, transom and bow rails, borg warner 1:1 transmission, prop, wake plate turnbuckles, ski pylon, prop strut, drive...
"... poured water on it a few times..." i hope you are not pouring water on a hot engine.
Woody17, hope for the best. I am just north of you in Saratoga Springs. I have an '86 saltare, did the floor and stringers 13 yrs ago on mine. If your tach is busted i have an extra i'll sell, PM...
look out Jersey shore, new competition movin in!
The compression test is your best diagnostic tool at this point...OUI is on the money, unfortunatly an incompressible fluid (gasoline in liquid not vapor form) has entered the cylinders and when the...
heating a pin with an interference fit in a hole will make the pin larger... you need to heat the pylon or freeze the pin to create clearance. heating will help free up corrosion, and so will some...
Here is what the Saltare should look like if you carpet with the cap off:
