How to Drop your engine back in??

This is a call out to you guys like Okie and sybr and others that have dropped your engines in and can give me some tips. I am ready to drop my engine back in and just wanted a few bullet points on what to watch out for and what worked for you the best.

* drop engine in
* hook engine up to shaft then
* then screw bolts in??
* then align shaft??
* how do I know if my shaft moved in-or out? Do I get to place it where I like or?? Prop 1"-2" from bottom of boat??
* screw engine bolts in 95% way, and then pull them back out and fill with 5200 and re-install?
* what am I forgetting?? OH! Beer!

Ok I have it figured out now. I will use the exhaust and shaft wear to tell me where the engine was last time. That will work I think.prop.jpg

Yea this is very important. ..... I mounted mine to far forward. Now I'm having to make a spacer.... Whoops

Bens..you could make a shorter shaft?

Hull clearance and trailer clearance are 2 important considerations. I know on my boat my propeller is closer to the strut than you have in the pic. Unless you mean you are going to move it closer as to where your finger is and then I would say that is where mine is. If there is too much space then there will be greater strain on the shaft during heavy load turns as at high speeds or when heavily weighted. An improperly balanced prop will also create more vibration with a greater distance between the two. .02

Yes, pulling it in, that was it pulled out to remove the engine. Once I took the picture I could see the wear on the shaft where it use to sit, then the light bulb went on. And that will tell me right where the engine goes. Thanks

Bens..you could make a shorter shaft?

I need a longer shaft. I got a spacer I'm makin that should fix it I'll post some pics in my thread when I finish it
