Marine Carpet, where to buy? I may go overboard

Well since the search sucks like hoover turbo-charged with a hungry porn-star, I'll post this question here: Marine Carpet

I'm going to see what it would take me to do my carpet in my boat. I've got the engine hatches out of the boat, the teak on the sides. The only thing holding it down is the seat frames which I think I can just undo those real fast.

Then get a large piece of carpet, slide it over the ski pylon, then glue, tuck and trim. Or is there more to it, like usual?

I used cheap hardware store outdoor carpet and it was amazingly easy. The only place you could get hung up is if it's wrapped under your cap (mine was not.)

I got mine from Viper Customs...he uses the same type of carpet they are putting in the new Supra's. You should be fine laying it down like you are thinking. Originally it was laid down prior to the cap going on, and that's how I did it during the rebuild. As long as you cut it cleanly around the edges, and glue it down well, it should turn out looking pretty good.

How hard was it to get the observers seat and rear seats out? Aren't they just screwed in?

I did mine witht the cap off. Had Ingle's Carpet in GA truck a roll over. Good price, selection, & customer service.

On my 89, The observers seat and rear corner seats were each one piece assemblies with the seat bases and backs all attached. The screws holding the seat bases to the floor were easy - just aluminim L brackets. Some of the bolts holding the seat back portions were a PITA! I think I had to go through the air vent on the port side for one in the observer's seat (or maybe through an access hole behind the port gunnel trim panel). The rear corner seat back bolts were accessed either through the speaker holes or back from the rear with the ski locker removed.

My rear seat was just screwed in. The observer seat is part of the top cap. Sounds like the Salt is a bit different. Ingle's is what I was looking at too, until I decided to go with Viper.

mark another for ingles. sculpted, too. i like it. the indents catch dirt and small debris but it cleans easily.

seats on my 87 were alot like mike's but not hard to get out. the bases are easy. the backs have a bolt sticking into the gunnels. sounds like mike's had a nut on the other side, mine don't.

the middle rear seat might have L brackets on the base. it doesn't need them...i should say at least mine doesn't. the middle base is wedged in. with it in place, the corner pieces ain't going nowhere.

might be a good time to pull the pylon out.

What do you mean "sculpted"? I won't be doing carpet till my old comp captains chair is recovered to match the Saltare, then I'm pulling all seats. New base for the captains chair, and then redo the carpet is the plan.

Thanks for the link to Ingles. How is the quality? Anyone have any pictures they can put in here on theirs and who they used?

sculpted means it's not uniformly flat. there's a pattern in the length of the fibers.

Got mine from Ingles too. It's local for me so I picked it up from them directly. Great service and price.
