Fly High X Pole and Supra Comp

Good evening fellow boaters. I just purchased a used Fly High X pole aluminum extended pylon for my 1988 Comp and it seems to fit loose over the factory pole. Is this normal or any suggestions to fix would be sweet. Thanks in advance.

tighten the bow strap and it shouldn't move.

for what it's worth, mine has a plastic mesh tube (looks kind of like this: ) wrapped around the factory pylon to keep the fly high pole from banging around so much when it's not fully assembled and tensioned. It sort of works.
