    Default Timing

Just curious, at what rpm do you guys set your timing? I have an '89 454 L-10. Thanks

I set the timing at 2000 rpm on my 89 PCM 454. I'm running a Pertronix electronic distributor with mechanical advance, so wanted to get past the advance curve.

Honestly, I don't remember where I ended up. I think I started at 18 deg btdc @ 2k rpm, but backed off a bit to improve the idle. Like I mentioned, I'm running a Pertronix electronic distributor, rebuilt carb, air gap manifold, slightly worked heads, etc. so "your mileage may vary"...

    Here's a link I found for general reference: http://www.m2omarine.com/resources/PCMSvcQuickRef.pdf
