Problems over 3000

I'm new to boating so I am grateful for this forum. I have a 94 La brisa with the 5.8L fuel injected Ford engine. It runs great up until 3000 rpm and then it sputters. The rpm's drop by 500, and the engine has no power. And it sounds sour. I have searched this site for similar problems, but to no avail. Has this happened to anyone else? Any help is thoroughly appreciated.

Check your fuel pressure, watch for pressure drop near the same rpm. When was the last time you had the Hi pressure filter changed? This is located in the Cool fuel canister along with the hi pressure fuel pump. Al

Hari,
It sounds like your engine is going into limp mode for some reason. I would think that it happen before you got up to 3k though. You did not mention if all of your gauges were reading normal values, I guess they were or it would be pretty obvious. I would give Vince at SKIDIM a call. He knows his stuff on
the various PCM gitches that plague many of us.
