The 2024 Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by Supra Boats is back for the final stop at our favorite location and the home of Supra Boats, Knoxville TN. With Nic Rapa’s win in Groveland and some early exits last week the overall season standings are incredibly tight with the longest standing Pro Tour competitor, Shota Tezuka sitting at the top of the list. But Shota has four other veterans – Tyler Higham, Cory Teunissen and Guenther Oka tied for second just 15 points behind him and Nic Rapa right behind them. The bottom line is that this event and the 2024 Overall Championship will be decided on the water in Knoxville. Check out who took the overall and who went home empty handed.
The Groveland Florida Pro Wake Board Tour event on Lake David always offers some of the best performances of the year. The head to head format proved a significant factor in the results with some tough opening heat draws. The format really seemed to play into the talent and cunning strategy of riders like Nic Rapa. Nic had a huge day landing double tantrums to blind at clutch moments. Thus throwing another hat in the ring for consideration of the overall championship at the final event. That head to head format also played well for 2023 overall champion Tyler Higham, 2022 overall champion Cory Teunissen and current overall rankings leader Shota Tezuka – the veterans with the experience were able to really take advantage of the conditions and the format at PWT #3.
Your Stop 2 winner, Guenther Oka. Can this year's comeback kid carry the momentum into Stop 3? He was followed close behind by tour veteran, Cory Teunissen. Taking third was La Familia's very own Sam Brown. In Jr Pro Wakeboard, Shion Takaiwa reigned supreme once again, mixing his crazy tech tricks with an unbelievably fluid style. Last, but not least, who else but Jett Shreds taking home the Pro Wakesurf division win.
The first stop of PWT 2024 is in the books, and what an unbelievable final! The hometown kid, Thomas Herman, made his way to the top of his very first PWT podium! He was followed close behind by the longtime vet and fan-favorite, Shota Tezuka. Taking third was none other than Luca Kidd, who will be a force to be reckoned with all season. In Jr Pro Wakeboard, Shion Takaiwa reigned supreme once again, mixing his crazy tech tricks with an unbelievably fluid style. Last, but not least, who else but Jett Shreds taking home the Pro Wakesurf division win. Jett starts off his defense of his overall title with a bang! Big thanks to @indyboatco and everybody in Indy for making this first stop one for the books!
